River Fun

Snuggling with Aunt Lem (Emily).

While most of her time was spent playing in the sand, we did get Mary-Michael out in the water for a few minutes so we could get a picture in her new suit.

1 - 2 - 3 Jump...Uncle Geoff? Why am I jumping alone?

That was a rotten trick Uncle Geoff! (says Micah)

Sherry Lee, may I see that ball?

Thank you. (we haven't learned about sharing yet)

Strawberry Hill

Though I've lived in Richmond most of my life I'd never made it out to the Strawberry Hill horse races. On Saturday we gave it a whirl - it was a beautiful day to be outside, and we really enjoyed seeing lots of friends from our current season of life and seasons from the past. And I actually did see some of the horse races, unlike when I went to Foxfield while at UVA (if you've ever been you know what I mean!).

Though there's no picture of Geoff and I, it was actually really nice to have some time to ourselves, too. Charlene was kind enough to take our little munchkin so we could enjoy the festivities (thank you!).

Jared and April (the couple that introduced Geoff and I).

April and I with two old friends from high school - it was great to see them after all this time!

Me, Lacey and April - I look like I'm trying to go undercover.

Pictures

Between traveling, walking, stair tumbling, outdoor playing and all the stuff that make up our days, we have had a full and blessed few weeks. Here are some pictures and a sweet video of our little walker.

Yesterday morning I had a lovely mom's-only breakfast with my friend Rana (she has a daughter just a few days older than Mary-Michael) - it's so nice to take a break to reflect on still being somewhat new parents, discuss what's going well and what's not, and just connect and remind yourself you can't do it all and really - there's no such thing as a super mom. (If you are one, congratulations but please don't tell me).

After my morning breakfast and failure to remember to take out our only carseat so that Geoff could meet me in town, I trekked it back to King William. Once home I met the "bee guy" also known as "Guy" who informed us that one of our hives had swarmed and left. So, we are left with one, and we can either purchase more bees or wait until next year and try to split this hive. In an effort to try and keep costs down with our farming adventure (aka experiment), I think we'll try and split them next year.

But the afternoon was not to be dampered by this news - we met up with the Young's and headed to Maymont for a little picnic and visit on a beautiful Spring day. We followed this with family nap time and an evening with some more friends for dinner and to watch a UFC fight. Ok, I slept during the fight because they really just don't interest me that much, but it was still a fun evening.

Micah (the child with no fear) attempts to grab the goat's face.

Mary-Michael gently pets the goat with Daddy's help (oh the difference between boys and girls!)

Micah was less than thrilled to pose next to Mary-Michael for a picture.

But if a bear's involved, who cares if she's on my back!

We attempted a group bath with M&M, Micah and Brayden. This is the beginning.

This is a few moments later (Mom, am I really still in here with these crazy boys?)
